Good News, Bad News

Our website has had an overhaul this week …  we’ve freshened the look and added a few functions to make it easier for you to view and buy. There’s still a little tweaking to do but, in the meantime, take a look and see what you think!

Here’s the changes which won’t be immediately obvious:

  • Our loyalty scheme for customers re-ordering within one month wasn’t working consistently, so we’ve now changed that to enable customers to get a discount when re-ordering within 2 months instead, to allow more leeway.  We had to reduce the percentages accordingly - you can get full details here.

  • We’ve been able to negotiate a better rate with our couriers so our maximum charge for delivery within Ireland (inc. Northern Ireland) is now just €8 instead of €10 for orders weighing less than 30kg. We offer flat-rate postage of just €4 for club members and FREE nationwide delivery when you spend over €50. Local customers can order online and then collect from our shop.

  • Unfortunately, the cost of courier delivery to Britain and elsewhere has increased dramatically over the last couple of years and we can no longer maintain our maximum charge of €15. Orders weighing more than 2kg will now cost €28+  Orders weighing less than 1kg will usually cost between €1.50 and €8 (depending on size, weight and destination) and we’re still offering flat-rate postage of just €6 for club members for as long as we can.

  • A button has been added to our homepage to enable you to subscribe to this monthly (more or less) newsletter without needing to create a customer account. For more regular updates, follow us on Facebook - we have 2 pages:TreasureBin for crafty news and tips; TreasureBin.holistic for details of our mind/body/spirit products and inspirational quotes. You can also follow us onTwitterTumblr and Pinterest.

Mammy & Paddy

So this weekend is St Patrick’s Day AND Mother’s Day. That deserves some celebrating, so Treasure Bin is offering you a choice of EITHER 10% discount on orders placed online over the weekend, OR free postage within Ireland (RoI and NI).  And if you think you’ve left it too late to get your mother a present, don’t forget that you can buy virtual gift vouchers from our website (the amount is kept online for the recipient to use as and when they like). And we’re not stopping you from buying a voucher for your Dad as well … or anyone else you love!

To get 10% off, use coupon code MamPad at checkout.
OR
To get free postage within Ireland, use coupon code FREEP at checkout.

The discount is valid 17-19 March on all items except the Lucky Dip category, where items are sold for charity.  It’s only valid on the website, but you can place your order online and collect from our Letterkenny shop. We’re closed on Saturday but will be open on Monday 1-5pm (or thereabouts, depending on demand!)

If you have any problems using the code, or have any queries, email us.

PRODUCT UPDATE

In our March newsletter, I mentioned that I’d placed several orders at the Craft Hobby & Stitch show. These have now finally started arriving so we have a nice range of books for learning how to sew, knit or crochet and I got a good selection of Payper Box cardstock. I’ve implemented a scheme whereby you can get a €1 rebate for the larger Payper Box wallets in new condition (or €1 discount if you’re refilling your own wallet). This is proving very popular with our customers so I’ll keep doing that for as long as possible, in the face of constantly rising prices! I’m expecting delivery of Hunkydory card kits, Debbi Moore CDs and some needle-felting kits next week. In the coming weeks, I hope to get Sugarblossom moulds, self-adhesive crystals and other craft kits.

How it all began

I have always loved crafts but found it difficult to source supplies in Ireland, so in 1998 I opened my own shop -Treasure Bin.  My intention was to encourage people not to throw those broken bits of jewellery or scraps of paper/fabric in the bin, but to turn them into treasure. I provided craft workshops and demonstrations to show them how.

I created a website in 2001, www.treasurebin.com, and started selling worldwide.  I briefly sold on Ebay as well, but rising fees made it difficult for me to keep my prices reasonable so I now sell on Ebid instead - this is where you will find a range of our products, including discontinued items and other special offers.
Click here to sign up and check out our bargains
(it’s free to register and only takes a few minutes).

And then came www.treasurebin.ie where I provide information on our craft classes and bridal services.

I now have Facebook and Twitter accounts so that I can give my customers all the latest news on our sales, new products, holiday closing, etc.

And now … a blog, to give you the complete picture on what is going on with Treasure Bin.  But I will also be giving information on craft fairs, wedding events and everything else that I think will be of use.  So … watch this space!
